The Cherry Orchard Community Training Centre’s Mission Statement is:

To create and sustain a unique, community led, equine centred learning environment dedicated to the needs of young people through the provision of state recognised qualifications and recreational opportunities.

About Us

The Cherry Orchard Equine, Education & Training Centre is a 5.7 million Euro purpose built youth education & training building, comprising of 28 stables, indoor arena, outdoor gallops, tutorial rooms, state of the art computer room, art room, kitchen & canteen, leisure room & crèche. Cherry Orchard Community Training Centre (CTC) is located within the equine centre; it is in operation since May 2004 and provides training opportunities to 45 learners primarily aged between 16 and 21.

History

The Cherry Orchard Community Centre has come about through the ambition & commitment of the local community. Through the perseverance of local parents, funds were secured & 11.5 acres of land rezoned in Cherry Orchard Estate. Building work began in September 2002 & the centre opened in January 2003. While horse riding & equine related activities is the central feature of the training programmes the primary aim is to create a positive learning experience for young people, to renew their interest in education & to provide an equine centred learning environment

Opportunities

Link with other education and training organisations
Race (Racing Academy and centre of Education), the training centre for Race horse racing industry. Develop links and share resources with the other Education and Training Organisations in the area.

These include: Youthreach, Kylemore training Centre, Candle Community training Centre, NTDI Ballyfermot, Ronanstown Community Training Centre and Ballyfermot STAR. The BASE, The Bungalow.

Cherry Orchard provides:

  • A greater variety of programmes/ FETAC modules
  • Increase the number of foundation and level 1 modules
  • British Horse Society Certification at Levels 1 and 2
  • FETAC Level Two Modules

In keeping with the terms of the Productivity Agreement develop links with local companies, employers and the Equine industry to provide a broad range of work experience options.
