Cherry Orchard Youth Service Hell & Back

On Saturday, 7th June, around 30 young people from the Cherry Orchard community are gearing up for one of the toughest — and most exciting — challenges they’ll face this year. Thanks to the support of Cherry Orchard Youth Service, the CODY Project, and Familibase, this incredible group of young people, alongside their dedicated youth workers, will take part in HELL & BACK — Ireland’s famous obstacle course adventure run held in the stunning Killruddery Estate, Bray, Co Wicklow.
What is HELL & BACK?
HELL & BACK isn’t just a race. It’s a wild adventure through rivers, forests, hills, bogs, and swamps — mixed with a series of man-made obstacles that test strength, endurance, and determination. From crawling through muddy pits like Satan’s Pit to climbing tough hills like Heartbreak Ridge, the course challenges every participant both physically and mentally. For those taking part during the summer, exciting features like the Water Jump & Splashdown Slide add a splash of adrenaline to the mix.
Why This Matters
For the young people from Cherry Orchard, this event is much more than just a fun day out. It’s a chance to push their limits, build new skills, and show what they’re capable of. The experience promotes teamwork, resilience, and leadership — key values that the Youth Service, CODY Project, and Familibase nurture through their programmes.
Familibase, a vital part of our community, supports families and young people through initiatives that encourage personal growth and confidence. By partnering with organisations like Familibase, we ensure that young people have access to transformative experiences like HELL & BACK — proving that with the right support, they can conquer any challenge.
Community Spirit in Action
One of the most special things about this event is how it brings people together. For the Cherry Orchard young people and staff, it’s an opportunity to bond, make memories, and celebrate their achievements as a team. It’s a reminder that when a community supports its young people, incredible things happen.
As they prepare to take on the challenge this weekend, everyone involved is proud — not just of completing a tough course, but of the courage, spirit, and teamwork on display. HELL & BACK is tough, no doubt. But the Cherry Orchard crew knows that with grit and support, there’s no obstacle they can’t overcome.
