Cherry Orchard Pony Club
The Cherry Orchard branch of The Irish Pony Club was set up in 2005. The club was set up as a stepping stone for community horse rider and endeavour to promote and encourage horsemanship, sportsmanship and loyalty in a safe and fun atmosphere for all its members.
About The Club
The Club is unique, because unlike all other branches of the Irish Pony Club in the country, members do not own their own ponies, instead they use horses belonging to Cherry Orchard Equine Centre.
The Club has a flair for musical rides and have delivered intricate displays at events such as the “ Passion Project “ in 2015 and the “Capall Curra Horse Show” in 2021.
The Cherry Orchard Branch
Fiona Cloke is our Pony Club District Commissioner and instructor. Under Fiona’s stewardship The Club has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has a very strong emphasis on enjoyment, inclusion, respect and learning.
The club holds a weekly four-hour rally at the Centre. At each rally, members take part in riding lessons, stable management, grooming of their allocated ponies, and preparing for tests and competitions during the year.
The Club has a strong dedicated loyal group of members ranging in ages from 11 years to 18 years. Each year the members will have the opportunity to go on various trips including the RDS Dublin Horse Show, Tattersalls, RACE academy, the National Stud and other outings.
Within the locality, The Pony Club has become renowned for its signature Musical Ride displays. Click below if you would like to find out about joining the Cherry Orchard branch of the Irish Pony Club.
