About The Club

The club is unique among Irish Pony Club branches, as members do not own their own ponies but ride those belonging to the Equine Centre. It is known for its musical ride displays, performing regularly at open days and at major events such as the “Passion Project” in 2015 and the “Capall Curra Horse” Show in 2021.

Many past members have gone on to careers in the equine industry, from racing and training to equine studies and instructing—opportunities made possible by the strong foundation provided by the Pony Club.

The Cherry Orchard Branch

Fiona Cloke is our Pony Club District Commissioner and instructor. Under Fiona’s stewardship The Club has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has a very strong emphasis on enjoyment, inclusion, respect and learning.

The club holds a weekly four-hour rally at the Centre. At each rally, members take part in riding lessons, stable management, grooming of their allocated ponies, and preparing for tests and competitions during the year.

The Club has a strong dedicated loyal group of members ranging in ages from 11 years to 18 years. Each year the members will have the opportunity to go on various trips including the RDS Dublin Horse Show, Tattersalls, RACE academy, the National Stud and other outings.

Within the locality, The Pony Club has become renowned for its signature Musical Ride displays. Click below if you would like to find out about joining the Cherry Orchard branch of the Irish Pony Club.
