Dublin City Council is delighted to announce the launch of this year’s programme of free events to celebrate the Cherry Orchard area. The Lord Mayor of Dublin Caroline Conroy launched the Cherry Blossoms Festival 2023 in St Ultan’s School, Cherry Orchard on Wednesday 22nd March 2023.
Dublin City Council, Ballyfermot Partnership, Blue Door and a wide range of community groups have come together to create an amazing programme of free events for the month of April in Cherry Orchard. The Festival received additional support this year from Go-Ahead Ireland, Ballyfermot/Chapelizod Partnership, Co Operative Housing Ireland, Tusla and Sláintecare.
Lord Mayor Caroline Conroy said, “I am delighted to be in Cherry Orchard today to launch the Cherry Blossoms 2023 Festival. Nothing announces the arrival of spring time more than the flowering of the Cherry Blossoms trees, and it is a fitting time of the year for the residents and community groups in Cherry Orchard to come together and celebrate their thriving and blooming community.”
The Cherry Blossoms Festival celebrates the work of residents who give their time and energy to improve the quality of life for the people of the area. This year local residents have organised Play Days, Clean Ups, Walks and an International Food Fair. New events this year include, a community weekly Big Breakfast, ‘Open Mic’ nights for young people and some great health and well-being events.
The event will also showcase all of the organisations in the area that provide vital services to the community. It is to their credit that over 35 events catering for all age groups and all interests will take place during the month of April.
