In February, Cherry Orchard Youth Service proudly took part in the Irish Homeless Street Leagues, offering local young people aged 16 and over a chance to enjoy football in a fun, safe, and competitive environment. The sessions were held at the Ballyfermot Leisure Centre Astro Pitch, bringing together participants from the community for an engaging and inclusive experience.

Over the course of the sessions, players had the opportunity to develop their skills, meet new people, and enjoy the camaraderie that the Irish Street Leagues are known for. While the focus was on football, the initiative also provided a structured space to build confidence, teamwork, and a sense of belonging.

Organisers and participants reflected on the positive impact of the program. Many highlighted the excitement of playing in a supportive league environment and the chance to connect with peers from the community. For some, it was their first experience in an organized league, making it all the more meaningful.

This collaboration demonstrates the broader purpose of the Irish Street Leagues: using sport as a tool to inspire, empower, and unite. Cherry Orchard Youth Service looks forward to continuing its involvement in future seasons, helping more young people experience the joy, teamwork, and personal growth that football can bring.
